Buckland Omnibus Company TE 7890 at Bawdsey Quay – 12 Jul 1992

Buckland Omnibus Company TE 7890 at Bawdsey Quay – 12 Jul 1992
Sunday 12 July 1992 (1235) – Buckland Omnibus Company of Woodbridge, Suffolk TE 7870, a Dennis E chassis new to Accrington Corporation Transport as their number 57 in 1929. Originally it carried a Brush body but this was replaced with a Wyatt body in 1974. It was seen at Bawdsey Quay when working the Suffolk Sunday Rover service 659 to Dunwich and Orford. The River Deben can be seen in the background and the ferry stage at Felixstowe Ferry is partly visible above the parked car in the left background. Another Sunday Rover service (658) ran from Felixstowe Ferry along the coastal road via Felixstowe to Landguard Fort. By crossing the river on the small ferry passengers could connect from one bus to the other. The network of Sunday Rover services was a travel initiative sponsored by the County Councils of Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The purchase of a Sunday Rover ticket, advertised on the side of the bus, enabled travel on the sponsored network of all five counties. The company website still shows the bus available for private hire in 2017.
