DSCN3431 Stagecoach buses in Hastings - 15 Sep 2009

DSCN3431 Stagecoach buses in Hastings - 15 Sep 2009
Tuesday 15 Sept 2009 (1813) – Harold Place, Hastings, East Sussex. A view from the upper deck of Stagecoach South East (Hastings and District) 15485 (GN09 BAU), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in March 2009. Across the road is similar bus 15487 (GN09 BBE). They were both working on service 100 branded as ‘The Wave’. 15487 was working the 1750 service 100 from Hastings (Conquest Hospital) to Lydd. The bus I was on (15485) was working the 1708 Lydd to Hastings service 100 which had most likely originated in Dover at 1535 as service 101. Both services 100 (Hastings-Lydd) and 101 (Lydd-Dover) are marketed as ‘The Wave’ and most daytime buses are linked across Lydd running through from Hastings via Lydd to Dover. The evening schedule may have been different with 15487 bus turning back at Lydd. The vehicles are provided by two different Stagecoach South East operating companies, East Kent and Hastings & District. According to ‘Bus Lists on the Web’ of the 32 buses numbered 15475-15506, placed in service during March/April 2009, Hastings and District received 15485-15489 and East Kent the remainder. In front is Optare Solo 47685 (GN58 PXM) working the 1803 service 20 from Ore which terminates at the railway station. Normally service 20 buses continue to Hollington but this was one of the last trips before the reduced evening schedule begins.
