DSCN7883 Former Eastern Counties KNG 718 in Bury St. Edmunds - 31 Mar 2012

DSCN7883 Former Eastern Counties KNG 718 in Bury St. Edmunds - 31 Mar 2012
Saturday 31 March 2012 (approx 1720) – Former Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol LL718 (KNG 718) was new to the company in August 1950 remaining until January 1968. Now preserved and, I think, owned by the Eastern Transport Collection Society. It was seen in Bury St Edmunds bus station prior to following First Eastern Counties Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart 43435 (P435 NEX) on the last FEC service serving the town. The Eastern Counties Road Car Company Limited, which later became the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited, was an ancestor of FEC and established a base in Bury St Edmunds sometime in the 1920s. The withdrawal by FEC, and the closure of the garage in the town, ended a presence by the company and its predecessors spanning more than 80 years.
