Die Dunkle Erdhummel (Bombus terrestris) gehört zu den auffälligsten, größten und häufigsten Hummeln hierzulande. Sie kommt in vielen Habitaten zurecht und ist bei ihrer Nahrung nicht wählerisch. Auch Zuchtpopulationen werden für die Bestäubung eingesetzt, vor allem für Tomaten und Erdbeeren (entnommen aus www.nabu.de/hummeln). Da dabei immer wieder Tiere entkommen, können sie zur Faunenverfälschung beitragen.
