Froschkonzert - Frog concert

I found this common water frog (Rana esculenta) together with other members of the species in a forest pond, where they were croaking in competition. The croaking of the water frogs has the biological sense to mark a conquered water area (territory) and to attract females. The territory is defended against opponents. How the sounds are produced is explained in the 1st internet article. General information about the biology of the water frogs can be found in the 2nd internet article.
The common water frog in the picture has its territory in the middle of a collection of duckweed (Lemna).

Klasse diese Aufnahme Reinhold!

Klasse erwischt mit dem Getümpel rundherum!
Ich hab die Herrschaften in Schlafzimmerfensternähe
