Greece, Holy Meteora, The Monastery of St. Varlaam (taken with a long lens)

Greece, Holy Meteora, The Monastery of St. Varlaam (taken with a long lens)
The Monastery of St.Varlaam or All Saints is one of the active monasteries of Meteora. It is believed that the monastery received its name from the monk Varlaam, the first settler who climbed the rock in the first half of the 14th century and built a small temple dedicated to the Three Hierarchs. It is also known that the monk Varlaam was a contemporary of St. Athanasius of Meteora, who founded the Megala Meteora Monastery.
