Abu Ali Ibn Sina, known in the West as Avicenna (August 16, 980 - June 18, 1037) - is a medieval Persian scholar, philosopher and physician, a representative of Eastern Aristotelianism. In total, he wrote over 450 works in 29 fields of science, of which only 274 survived. The most famous and influential philosopher and scientist of the medieval Islamic world.
