Abu Nasr Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Farabi (870 - 950) - philosopher, mathematician, music theorist, scholar of the East. One of the largest representatives of medieval oriental philosophy. Al-Farabi is the author of comments on the works of Aristotle and Plato. His works influenced the philosophy and science of medieval Western Europe. He is credited with creating the Otrar Library.
