Mit einer Höhe von 102m ist das 1890 in Betrieb genommene Viadukt (Planer: Victorino Aurelio Lastarria) Chiles höchstes noch in Betrieb befindliches Eisenbahnviadukt. Gebaut wurde es von Schneider et Cie, die bei der Aussschreibung Gustave Eiffel ausstachen! Das Viadukt steht unter Denkmalschutz und ist auf der Liste als mögliches UNESCO-Welterbe.
