Three Cities

On the ferry from Bormla/ Cospicua to Valletta:
left L'Isla/Senglea with Sheer Bastion and right Birgu/ Vittoriosa with the Maritime Museum.

Die Drei Städte (auch Cottonera genannt) liegen gegenüber Maltas Hauptstadt Valletta am Grand Harbour. Birgu/ Vittoriosa ist seit Zeiten der Phönizier besiedelt, von 1530 -1571 war es die erste Hauptstadt der Johanniter. Senglea wurde nach 1551 auf der Halbinsel gegenüber gegründet. Bormla ist ebenfalls phönizischen Ursprungs.

An interesting link too. It mentions Fort St Angelo, where I worked for while in the early 1970s when I was in the RN. Some lovely memories!

Besten Dank, Uwe! Der Hafen ist leider nie leer, so früh in der Saison war er nur halb gefüllt;-) Da liegen gewaltige Jachten, weil Malta "goldene" Pässe verkauft.
