Lykkens Portal

Die alte Stadtbrücke in Trondheim, nach dem Stadtbrand 1681 von Johan Caspar von Cicignon erbaut und 1861 von Carl Adolf Dahl rekonstruiert, führt über die Nidelva und verbindet die Innenstadt mit dem Viertel Bakklandet. Der Name Lykkens portal (Pforte zum Glück) stammt aus einem Lied des 1943 hingerichteten Widerstandskämpfers Kristian Oskar Hoddø.

Schönen Dank, Heide! Zumindest früher ließ sich der vordere Teil hochziehen, inzwischen ist das aber meines Wissens nicht mehr in Betrieb, Man musste die Brücke auch wegen zu hoher Belastung für den Autoverkehr sperren.

For me, this doesn't resemble Norway at all, so I feel sure that Carl Adolf Dahl was influenced by bridge builders in Central Europe. Both photos could have been taken in Germany I think. They are both lovely and the PiP should be made available for comments, Gudrun. ;-))

Many thanks, Amelia! To me it doesn't look German but it could be Swedish/ Danish as Norway was in a Union with Denmark for centuries and after that with Sweden.

Two super photos from this very attractive bridge..........I love the idea of a "gate of happiness", something that is lacking in the world as it is at the moment!

The image in the PiP is my favourite........I love the look of the houses along the riverside and up on the hill and everything looks great in the sunshine. Lovely reflections too.
