Prestøya

Prestøya
SC 69- Seasons

Autumn colour in Kirkenes, in the far northeast of Norway near the Russian border. The shore of Prestøya is known for its many seabirds (wrong season, I only saw eiders and sandpipers) and is a joy to explore at low tide. Vegetation is mainly birch, arctic willow and a few rowans, and lots of berries (crowberry, blueberry and whortleberry) and mushrooms/toadstools in autumn.

Lovely autumn selection of berries and fungi, and the trees, although mostly leafless, are still holding on to flashes of orange and red. Did you eat some blueberries? There were loads of them growing in the Rogaland area, or maybe they were bilberries, and I used to love having a feast. Folks collected them using special combs. Lovely SC photo, Gudrun.

Das wäre teuer geworden-Gepäck auf dem Schiff, da musst du hinterherfliegen;-)
In einem Fjord, wo ausgetendert wurde, haben 2 Alterchen den letzten Tender verschwitzt (doof, wenn man so gar keine Fremdsprachen spricht und sich auch nicht informiert und nichts mitkriegt). Wir waren schon abgefahren, haben kulanterweise angehalten, das kleine Rettungsboot wurde zu Wasser gelassen und hat die beiden abgeholt....da es offen ist, wurden die ganz nett nass;-)

Ja, das kann in einer reisegruppe passiern. Da weiss man ja nicht so genau, wer mitreist. Deshalb bin ich nicht so ein grosser fan von reisegruppen. Aber allein zu den polarlichtern wäre eventuell auch nicht so ideal, ganz allein in einem ruderboot ;-)
