Solitary

Solitary
Farm on Vatnsnes Peninsula near Hvammstangi, looking towards Miðfjörður, a side fjord of Húnaflói. Húnaflói means "Bay of the young icebears" because sometimes in winter icebears from Greenland drift ashore on their iceflows. With global warming this is getting rare though.
The building on the right is a traditional fish drying shed.

Danke, Dany! Die Fisch-Trockenschuppen haben wir dort oben ab und an noch gesehen, aber die sterben aus, seit die meisten ihren Fisch entweder fertig kaufen oder den gefangenen Fisch direkt an die Fabriken verkaufen....

Many thanks, Isabel! The north of Iceland and especially the West- and Eastfjords with their old basalt layers have similarities with the Faroes.
