VoR[19] - No.10
VoR no.10 - Works No BMR002 - Built out of parts from Baguley-Drewry by Brecon Mountain Railway in 1987.
Used mostly for duties such as shunting and works trains, but is capable of pulling light passenger trains.

bal - vending machine
Empty vending machine at Llanuwchllyn Station on the Bala Lake Railway.
I think this historic item was used to dispense chocolate bars, rather than just cigarettes. I'm told that it is intended to restore it to working order, but the coin mechanism is pre-decimalisation and that is a potential problem [I would suggest they sell people "tokens" to operate it, under supervision, and unload it at the end of the day].

Bal - extension

Poster displayed showing the route of the proposed extension from Bala(Penybont) into Bala town.
This extension is the major part of the Red Dragon Project.

Llanuwchllyn Heritage Centre. A long view down the shed devoted to the display of heritage vehicles, Most of the items visible are various permutations of 2ft gauge slate waggons - there's a wooden one just peeking inti view on the right, the others are mostly 2 or 3 ton waggons. The two end vehicles are a gunpowder and guard's [brakesman] van.

The overbridge at Bala (Penybont)
This is the present [Sept 2019] Eastern terminus of the Bala Lake Railway, although there are plans for an extension into the centre of Bala itself. Various permissions have been obtained and funding is being sourced for the Red Dragon project.

Bentley "NHY 581" that used to be owned by photographer and author Ivo Peters.
Now owned by Julian Birley ...
B&M - dol/oaw - Speckled Wood
Speckled wood [Pararge aegeria] given this was seen in September, this example will be from the second generation in 2019.
Very conveniently settled on the white [grey] lichen, giving me a contrasting background.
dol/o&s - Time & Tide Bell, Aberdyfi {1 of 3}
Basically an arts project, which started in 2008 [?]
The pair at Aberdyfi were the fourth in the sequence and were installed in July 2011. Apparently, there is funding for 16 in total.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_and_Tide_Bell
As I understand it, he concept is that the incoming tide rings the bell, the timing & extent of this is affected by the tide cycle between springs and neaps as well as flood tide and ebb tide. It will be interesting to see if / when climate change / rising sea levels have any affect.

B&M - dol/cat/oaw - Butterfly Bush
This butterfly bush was living up to it's name, with examples from at least four species either feeding or basking in the sun. Plus several bees ... There was a bit of a breeze and people walking around nearby, so catching a good image was quite difficult, especially as my camera was having a bad day. Maybe I had it on the wrong setting, or something.
dol - Power Station
This discreet [non-descript] building caught my eye & ear as we walked past. It was emitting a sort of rushing & humming sound, not at all loudly.
It is the power station for Dolgoch Falls.
Micro-HEP plant installed capacity is 100kW & commissioned in 2015

DoL - Dolgoch, the loco
Not quite the best position for me !
The Talyllyn Railway's No.2 "Dolgoch" was built in 1866 by Fletcher Jennings at Lowca, Nr Whitehaven [Cumbria].
I believe that this locomotive has some unusual features, especially in the motion.
