Built 1947 by Vickers Armstrong. Served with 80 sqn in Hong Kong, last flight 30th Sept 1955.
Retired & put on display from 1968.

This made me wonder, just how many "spits" are at Duxford, ignoring the two-seaters ...

In December 2021, there were 12 [twelve] airworthy examples of various "Marks" on display - to show their evolution during WW2

And an internet search result proclaimed that there are a minimum of 42 Spitfires classed as airworthy in the UK. [Around 60/70 worldwide]. There were 20,350+ produced and around 240 still survive in museum and private collections.
