dux[25] - "Stringbag"

Very useful for torpedo launching, pulling off some interesting feats, despite the open cockpit ...
eg On 22 August 1940, three "stringbags" each used one torpedo [so three in total] to destroy two U-boats, one destroyer and a replenishment ship in the Gulf of Bomba, Libya.
And one dropped the torpedo which crippled the steering on the Bismark ...

NF370 – Swordfish III on static display at the Imperial War Museum Duxford in Duxford, Cambridgeshire - was built in 1944, and was operated by No. 119 Squadron RAF. Which had been given the task of patrolling the North Sea in search of German torpedo boats and midget submarines. It has been at Duxford since 1986. In 1998, a restoration project was begun that returned the airframe to an airworthy condition; it was fitted with a non-functional Pegasus engine.
