De Havilland "Chipmunk" [built under a licence from the Canadian designers, one of more than 700] a tandem single engine basic trainer used by the RAF, the ATC and University Air Squadrons.
Other uses have included covert reconaissance.

There are still a reasonable number still in airworthy condition.
[A gliding club near me in North East England used to have one as a glider tug, I think I remember it was an ex-RAF machine. However, they couldn't have all the log book, as it had been signed by a VIP]
