On our dead end street we had a club run by one of the older girls who lived next door to us. She was very organizational and didn’t take any fooling around!
I’m crowning my friend Linda as May Queen in the top rehearsal photo and on the left in the bottom one. I had been the queen the year before and was quite put out that I didn’t have a floor length dress then, so why did Linda now?!
My brother is the King. Love his dirty knees (part of a sailor dress up we owned.) Our neighbor, Tony, is also wearing something from the dress up box. I have my party dress on. My mother had hung up the washing but had taken it down by the actual May Day.
It must have been a late spring - the trees still look pretty bare. It’s 1963.
