Spit Curls and Frills

Spit Curls and Frills
Uploaded for the vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: TWO'S COMPANY (photos of two people)
October Monthly theme, 2025
This is a slightly cut Cabinet Card and looking at the clothing I would guess probably late 1890s.
Bought in Bristol, Vermont, 2024

Smiley Derleth, Nouchetdu38, kiiti have particularly liked this photo

Nice portrait of this pair. I think the seated woman resembles Helena Bonham-Carter, fatigued after a long run.

I hadn’t noticed that, Rick, but I agree!

"There once was a girl who had a little curl
right in the middle of her forehead.
And when she was good she was very very good
and when she was bad she was horid."
[The rhyme my grandfather would say to my mother (the youngest of the family) when she was little and had curly hair with some, of course, on her forehead. Always made my mom smile when she told me about it.]

I continue to enjoy your collection of vintage photos.

I had hoped to get some cool vintage images from color slides from the early 60's (my husband's uncle's slides) - but oh! They are the worst family photos one has ever seen. I mean, 80% of are people in the distance walking away from the photographer!! And not even with anything interesting about where they are walking. And I'm interested in a lot of different type things. Sigh. I am not done with checking them all out yet but I'm doubting I'll get anything to share on ipernity at all.

“There was a little girl…”
Yes, I know that rhyme well! My parents used to say it to me If I was in a temper!
I’m so sorry to hear about your family vintage images, Laura. How disappointing!
Please remember though that in VPTP “vintage” is up to 1980 - so you can still post those pics of yours that quality- we’d love to see them!
