Rosina Penco by Mayer & Pierson
Rosina Penco (1823-1894); Italian soprano who created the role of Leonore in Verdi's "Il Trovatore" (1853). There is little known about the beginning of her career. In 1849 she appears at the Opera of Copenhagen making a tour through Danemark and Sweden. From 1851/61 she made a great career in Italy, singing in the mayor Opera Houses like Rome, Genua, Florence, Naples and Triest. She made successful guest appearances at London, Paris and Madrid.
