Annetta Casaloni by Deroche & Heyland
Annetta Casaloni (1826-1915); Italian contralto who created the role of Maddalena at the première of Verdi's "Rigoletto" on March 3, 1851 at the Teatro Fenice in Venice. During her career, which lasted about 20 years, she performed at all the mayor opera houses in her native Italy, Europe and North- and South-America. After she retired from the stage she became a vocal teacher and one of her pupils was Claudia Muzio.
