Henriette Burenne by Székely & Massak
Henriette Burenne, born Burhenne (1850-1878); Czech contralto.
She was the daughter of a Prague music teacher. From 1872-1874 she was engaged at Cologne (Köln) as “first contralto”. From 1874-1876 she performed at the “Deutschen Theater” in Prague and the season 1876-1877 at the “Stadttheater von Hamburg”. Here she performed the role of Amneris in the German première of Verdi’s “Aïda” in 1876. In the same year she made a successful guest appearance at the “Wiener Hofoper”. Her promising career ended by her early death.
