Anton Woworsky (1834-1910); Czech tenor.
In 1857 he made his debut at Graz as Alamir in Donizetti’s “Belisar”. In 1859 he was singing at the “Stadttheater von Stettin” where he was discovered by the intendant of the “Berliner Hofoper”, who engaged him immediately for Berlin. Here he made his debut in the title role of Meyerbeer’s “Robert le Diable”. Until the end of his career in 1874 he stayed at Berlin, where he attained great popularity. At his farewell performance in 1877 as Count Almaviva in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” the German Emperor Wilhelm I and his Imperial household were present.
