Thrifted skirt remade into apron(?)
| |
|
I loved the fabrics and colors in this miniskirt for $2.99, but I'm not a miniskirt wearer these days. So I altered it with many rows of crochet to be a... well, a pull-over apron? Not really sure what to call it, but it's been fun to wear, anyway! Mostly thrifted yarns, no pattern, just winging it.
Thrifted green skirt, before

|
Got this skirt at a thriftshop last summer--loved the shape, color, fabric (stretch pinwale cord), but... didn't fit ME. So I altered it (see next photo).
Thrifted green skirt, after

Added a crochet insert along one of the curving seams, in green and purple; also added chained loops of the purple on the back of the ruffle, to hide the back of the anchoring stitches. Now it fits, and I like it a lot too!
American Girl doll costume
| |
|
Daughter dressed for "Book Character" day at school, as "Nellie," one of the American Girl series characters. Thrifted dress, altered for size, ribbon sash added.
Welsh cookies
Spinach-cheddar bread
| |
|
Spinach and cheese are in the dough--flavor isn't strong, just a hint. Good texture, color wasn't quite this ghoulish in person.
Tomato pesto bread
| |
|
Contained sundried tomato pesto, pinenuts, garlic, olive oil, and grated parmesan. Delicious, very moist.

Another thrifted purse altered with paint, collage, sharpies, nail polish, modpodge. Original purse was solid cream-colored shiny vinyl. Image of aviator Helene Dutrieu from Flickr Commons uploads of the Library of Congress (see below).
This purse was donated to a silent auction to benefit personal defense classes for women and seniors in Portland OR, summer 2009.
