Half moon sighting

Half moon sighting
Last nights waxing gibbous moon as taken from my back-garden..

Taken with my Nikon 300mm F8, Iso 250, F11, 1/200th sec. This is actually the result of 14 shots taken about 2 minutes apart and then stacked together.

Best full screen on black (of course!)

Herb The extra detail for the moons being stacked show up. It is a extra string on your bow. well worth using top marks to you.

Nice that you happened along Steve. Your kinda moon here for sure and yes, this new technique (advised by you!) did give this photo the edge it needed. Cheers for the plaudit.

HaHa, Toz, my description of the technicalities fell on deaf ears it seems. To put it a bit simpler, I put the camera on my tripod, centered on the moon, waited 2 mins and centered on the moon again, repeating this 14 times, resulting in 14 pics total. I then used a special program (Sequator) that lined them all up properly and averaged out the exposures and sharpness. This resulted in a much smoother but sharper photos than any single one, with less noise too. -Hope this clarifies.

Glad you liked the results shown here.
