Someone's bike is spied in this archway which could be an example in a mathematics geometry book. Would we see stone stairways, arched doorways and straight balcony walls all behind a another great archway. I doubt it very much. Most places like this in our world has long gone.

Enjoy.

I love this shot Herb................besides the variety of geometical shapes and angles, this is also a beautiful study in light and shadow. I especially like the edges of the shadow area as they mirror the shape of the steps. The bicycle provides more shapes and is a nice point of interest.

Excellent..!!

Nice composition and study Herb; as always a shame that the curse of 'street furniture' in the form of a services cabinet gets in the way, still, makes for part of the geometry I guess.

Hi Herb,

A very nice composition here, really enhanced by the bicycle to give it focus and scale.
While I am not an expert on architecture, I do remember that the arch was a speciality of the Romans, rather than the Greeks. As we know, the ancient Greeks loved their geometry with 'straight edge and compasses' theorems, rather than numbers.. (Although how the Romans ever managed arithmetic with their number system I dread to think!)

Best wishes
