Rhodes folk singer

Rhodes folk singer
Walking through the busy streets and squares of Rhodes we can see a few buskers. Here we have this fellow singing a mournful Greek love tragedy song perhaps. Well worth a few coins for, don't you think? Behind him is the old castle walls.
Notice his fingers displaying movement blur here!

Hi Toz. His singing and playing was excellent and the song had the most sorrowful lilt. I enjoyed this picture as it seems to demonstrate, music from the heart. - I like guitar music, especially classical, Spanish and CW styles. I think playing the banjo is quite a different style but most enjoyable too in the right hands. Glad you liked this one.
I think you know that I play the accordeon and electronic keyboard.

It looks like "tambura" or "tambur". It is a stringed instrument that is played as a folk instrument. I know some similar tambur where in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece,Turkey, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia.

Very well capture,Herb!

Best wishes

Nice to see you here Füsun. A scene that you might be well familiar with in your country too. I found the music hypnotising . Thanks for the extra info re the instrument. I don't know the Tambura at all. Glad you liked it.

He was indeed, but I don't think the crowds were very generous. ~ Herb

A lovely street shot Herb...............nicely composed and taken. I like the way he seems lost in the music with his eyes shut!

I liked that too Keith. I know that feeling when I play the accordeon , especially soft evocative melodies when I often close my eyes as I play to myself. (Everybody else have somehow vanished :)) Glad you liked it.

You are right.
To me I could call it the local "fado".
Sharp and emotional picture.

Indeed Jose. The music he was playing and singing had quite a different feeling to the 'fado' that i have heard in Portugal though but the sentiment was the same.
