Rails, fences and steam in Devon

Rails, fences and steam in Devon
Enjoy this oldie seen at the South Devon Railway station at Buckfastleigh taken some twelve years back. See here the GWR 5542, a Collet 4500 Class 2-6-2T (Tank Engine) that was built at Swindon in 1928 to a design by Churchward. If it looks rather unusual, that’s because another steam engine is just poking its nose out in front of this too. I think you will agree, a rather enjoyable shot of fences even without the engine.
Enjoy full size on black.
HFF, have a great weekend.

A really nice atmospheric shot, Herb. My Dad took photos on that line back in the 1970s in black and white. I am not sure where your other engine is, as I can only make out one and that looks very normal. Any way HFF!

Ah, I am showing my age now Phil. I too was taking some pictures in those days but not of this. Not a big system here but a really nice one. You are displaying my train blindness when I first saw this too. The second, a much bigger traditional engine is just nosing in front of this flattish engine but it was static as this was moving.

HFF and have a great weekend. Its snowing here!!!! Herb

Ah yes, a world of fences here, all around these engines that are very much alive.

HFF to you and have a wonderful weekend, Herb
