"Slime Mold"

"Slime Mold"
I really don't know what this is. "Slime mold" is a rather vague term for several types of protozoans and fungi. There are all sorts of interesting and hard-to-identify organisms growing on the forest floor in the winter.

Doerthe, Frans Schols, Jocelyne Villoing, Nouchetdu38 have particularly liked this photo

Thank you, Benoit. I think you are probably correct about it not liking light. It lives at the lowest part of the forest where there is very little light and plentiful water.

"Slime mould" is probably the best description and could be related to many types of fungus, I found one reference "Yellow Brain" which thrives on broad leaf logs in wet conditions but I am not sure if this fits the bill.

It's a nice addition to your collection of fungi photos though.
