Sad news, always when a friend leaves.

We never really get over it...

Wenn sie alt war nicht der schlechteste Tod, auch wenn es weh tut. Mein Castor ist mit 10 Jahren einfach verschwunden beim Pilze sammeln. Das hat lange geschmerzt.

Uncertainty is the worse thing that can happen. Peiki lies not far from Estrelinha and I will visit her as I do for Estrelinha everyday I hike uphills.

Oh, that's really sad news :-(
I almost felt I knew her, seeing all those photos of her. You're right though, at least she passed quickly and didn't have to suffer.

The best way to go ...

You've had a bit of bad luck with your dogs lately! It's always painful to lose one. I hear we grieve as deeply for loss of a dog as for a person, but not nearly so long. I don't know how one can really measure grief like that.

The point is my dogs were old, and I went to the kennel get an other old one nobody wanted, my Ninfa, so I know what I have ahead. Estrelinha was an exception, I kept her 12 years, Peiki 8 years with us. Both rescues.
Young rescue dogs find easily a home, old ones don't. So I take them. Going to get another one, 13 years old, to give him a good end of life, he will be Ninfa's friend (I hope).

It a wonderful photo and a nice tribute to Peiki.

I'm really sorry to hear this Isabel............I know you were very fond of her. RIP Peiki.

Worse for JP, she was her everyday companion, he wakes up at night and she isn't anylonger asleep at his bedside... I used to take her hiking when I was in Penedos, it is very hard not to have her, she was real sweet.

That's so sad..............but I expect you're keeping an eye on him Isabel.
