“Footsteps in the Dark” – Various

Some of you may know this as the title of a mystery novel by Georgette Heyer (1932), or of a book by George Lipsitz on “The Hidden Histories of Popular Music” (2007), or of a movie with Erroll Flyn under the direction of Lloyd Bacon (1941), or of an Isley Brothers track (1977). I don’t. I only know it as the title of Vol. 2 of Cat Stevens’ Greatest Hits (1984).

The footsteps shown in my picture are mainly Robbie’s.

I, too, missed every source which might have suggested a little learning. Of course, I had some hope I could quote Shakespeare, or Milton, or Joyce, for my “footsteps in the dark” picture, but it didn’t work out... Oh well, Cat Stevens is not the worst person to quote from –and I ain’t either! ;-)
