Für seinen Roman "Buddenbrooks" erhielt Thomas Mann 1929 den Nobelpreis für Literatur. In diesem Werk der Weltliteratur wird der Untergang der wohlhabenden Kaufmannsfamilie, den Buddenbrooks beschrieben. Ein Großteil der Handlung spielt in diesem Haus an der Mengstraße 4 in Lübeck. Hier befindet sich heute die Deutsche Thomas-Mann-Gesellschaft.

Danke, Ulrich! Es ist wohl eher die Architektur des wohlhabenden Großbürgertums. Solcherart Gebäude sieht man auch in der ehemals wohlhabenden Hansestadt Lübeck selten.
