Slender Rice Flowers

These flowers, I am fairly sure they're native to Austraia, were in the National Park near Bundanoon. They should be easily identified, but so far I've had no success. Looking for something with long tubular bases to the flowers with 4 petals, plus opposed leaves on the stems. There's also a little bug, but you will need to view large to see it. UPDATE Full points to Patrick Brandy (see below) who has come up with the ID for these. They are Pimelea liefolia , with the common name "Slender Rice Flower".

Moss Vale Post Office

The Moss Vale Post Office is in the southern highlands of NSW. Not only does it feature the old letter box (see also my previous image), but there also is the old telephone box (I'm unsure if it still works) and a coffee shop off to the side. Most of all, there are fences - so Happy Fence Friday, everyone, and have a good weekend.

Post Office wall

This rather stylish wall is on the Moss Vale Post Office, in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The letterbox is a bonus. :-) HWW and I hope everyone is having a good week.

Mystery flowers

Wildflowers in a National Park near Bundanoon, on the NSW southern highlands. They would have been some 15-20mm across. I'm fairly sure they are native to the area, though I've been unable to find an identification. UPDATE: It seems these may well be among the 50 or so species making up the Philotheca genus of native Australian plants. It seems they're difficult to grow in gardens so that may account for the relatively sparse information.

Old Queensland Museum

Photo from 1964 of (what is now officially the "Old") Queensland Museum and Art Gallery. This was copied from one of my earliest slides, on Anscochrome film which has not aged well - see PiP for the unedited copy. Brisbane now has new museums and galleries, but at least this building has been preserved. The tram tracks and overhead cables have long since gone. Happy Fence Friday and have a great weekend, everyone.

From an old slide

I've been copying some of my old slides to digital. This one of the Sydney Opera House was from Dec 65, and taken from a Manly Ferry. Copied from a Perutz slide. See also Pip, taken a little later on the trip. Your choice of walls for Happy Wednesday Wall, have a good week everyone.
