"Trollfjord" at Kirkenes
We travelled on the "Trollfjord" here seen at our most easterly point at Kirkenes, only a few km from the Russian border. In the past few days I have learned that Hurtigruten have now re-named the ship as the "Maud" , after the first Queen of Norway, as well as Roald Amundsen´s 1917 polar exploration vessel. I gather she will now be used for expedition type cruises.

Beach gymnastics
Fine weather and a family visit saw our talented granddaughter, who does gymnastics, practising on the nearby beach. Those are the "Tollgate Islands" in the distance.

Congo Beach #1
No, I haven't been travelling to Africa, for some reason a beach locale near Moruya in NSW is named Congo!

Sea ice
It was only thin, but it was good to see some sea ice up in the north of Norway.

The mast
Directly in the light of the rising sun, a mast is visible near the horizon. I'll admit that it looks pretty much like any other mast, but for me it was one of the highlights of our trip. "Why?" I hear you ask. It was from that mast, in 1926, that the airship Norge departed to make the first ever aircraft flight to the North Pole and also the first flight over the ice cap between Europe and North America. Best viewed large.
Fenced fish farms in the foreground - Norway seems to have fish farms everywhere! HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

Beach - southward
With time to spare at Moruya, I decided to visit the beach near Moruya Heads with the old manual 1.4 50mm lens. It still does a great job and this image (still winter here) is a change from my recent winter images from the Northern Hemisphere.
