The Woven Fish
Since there is no nice sandy beach in Cairns and you have to take care of stingers, venomous cone shells or even crocodiles anyway, you can alternatively use the great swimming lagoon at the end of the Esplanade for free. The steel sculpture "The Woven Fish" by artist Brian Robinson inside the swimming pool has become something of the town's landmark by now and is wonderfully illuminated at night.
