Ein letzter Blick auf das St. Josef Krankenhaus in meiner Heimatstadt, bevor es abgerissen wurde. Aus Kostengründen wurde es 2013 geschlossen und im letzten Jahr abgerissen. Immerhin entsteht an der selben Stelle jetzt ein Gesundheitscampus mit verschiedenen Arztpraxen und neuem Wohnraum, dennoch ist es bei einer Einwohnerzahl von fast 44.000 schwer nachvollziehbar, warum man bei gesundheitlichen Problemen immer in die Krankenhäuser der Nachbarstädte fahren muß. Also bleibt gesund und habt einen schönen Happy Fence Friday! A last view onto the St. Josef Hospital in my home town shortly before it was demolished. Closed down due to financial reasons in 2013 it was knocked down last year. At least they currently build a brand new medical centre with several medical practices as well as new housing at the same place, though it is hardly understandable why citizens of a town with a population of almost 44,000 always have to go to the hospitals in the neighbouring cities. In meinem Rücken befindet sich ein Spielplatz, daher das Hinweisschild, dass im Umkreis von 10 Metern absolutes Rauchverbot herrscht. Kanonen sind aber offenbar kein Problem :-) HFF und ein hoffentlich gewitterfreies Wochenende an Euch alle! March isn't supposed to be one of the best months to travel to Darwin, but we were quite lucky: During the day we had the best weather and were additionally rewarded with the most gorgeous sunsets from our hotel balcony each evening. The evening thunderstorms above Beagle Gulf looked quite dramatic, but fortunately stayed on the sea.

Auch auf Australiens Straßen ein seltener Anblick:
 Ein Holden FJ, gebaut zwischen 1953 und 1957, entdeckt in der Innenstadt von Darwin in der Nähe der Christ Church Cathedral. Wenn man genau hinschaut, kann man rechts einen Bauzaun sehen, deswegen HFF und schon einmal ein schönes Wochenende an alle! A rare sight even in Australia: A Holden FJ, constructed between 1953 and 1957, located in the centre of Darwin near Christ Church Cathedral. If you look closely, you can see a construction site fence on the right, so HFF and a lovely weekend to everyone!

Das Government House in Darwin wurde ursprünglich zwischen 1870 und 1871 erbaut und ist das älteste europäische Gebäude im Northern Territory sowie offizielle Residenz und Amtssitz dessen Administrators. Ein typisches Queenslander Haus irgendwo zwischen Brisbane und Bundaberg, aufgenommen aus dem Reisebus während meiner erster Australienreise im November 2009. Landeanflug auf Darwin nach einem knapp 4,5-stündigen Flug von Singapur. Darwin ist mit fast 150.000 Einwohnern die nördlichste Großstadt Australiens und Hauptstadt des Bundesstaats Northern Territory. Approaching Darwin after a four and a half hours flight from Singapore. With a population of about 150,000, Darwin is the largest city of the Northern Territory and capital city at the same time.

Ein kurzes Lebenszeichen von mir an meine Freunde bei ipernity. Ich hoffe, es geht Euch allen gut! Ich bin zwar inzwischen in Kurzarbeit, komme aber finanziell noch gerade so über die Runden, nur die freie Zeit ist trotzdem immer viel zu knapp :-) Aber Hauptsache ist, dass wir alle gesund sind und es auch bleiben! Da aus meinem geplanten Urlaub Ende März ja leider nichts mehr wurde und ich das Thema für dieses Jahr auch abgehakt habe, schwelge ich jetzt in Erinnerungen an alte Urlaube und möchte Euch in nächster Zeit dorthin mitnehmen. Dieser Blick aus knapp 10 km Höhe auf die fantastische indonesische Inselwelt am Rande der Floressee entstand während des Flugs von Singapur nach Darwin/Australien.
 Hier bedroht derzeit nicht der Massentourismus, sondern der Klimawandel die kleinen Paradiese, die nur knapp 8 Meter über den Meeresspiegel ragen.

I hope you are all fine! Currently, I have to work short-time with a reduced salary, but somehow I am still getting along financially, only my free time is always running short :-) But the most important thing is that we are all healthy and remain so! Since my long planned holidays at the end of March had been cancelled and I have dismissed the idea of making any new holiday plans for this year, I reminisce about former holidays and would like to take you there with me. This view from about 10 km above onto the fantastic Indonesian island world at the edge of the Flores Sea was taken during a flight from Singapore to Darwin/Northern Australia. These small paradisical islands are not threatened by mass tourism but rather by climate change since they are situated only 8 metres above sea level. From left to right you can see Pulau Jailamu, Pulau Sabaru, and Pulau Balobaloang Besar.

Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts erbautes Edwardianisches Barocktheater in Perth/Westaustralien. Leider war es zum Zeitpunkt dieser Aufnahme geschlossen, ich hätte sonst gerne einmal hineingesehen. HFF und ein schönes Osterwochenende an alle! His Majesty's Theatre is an Edwardian Baroque theatre built in the beginning of the 20th century in Perth/Western Australia. Unfortunately it was closed at the time of this picture, because I would really have loved to take a look inside. HFF and a wonderful Easter weekend to you all!

In einer bestimmten Straße in meiner Heimatstadt stehen auf beiden Seiten ein paar alte Kirschbäume, die momentan wieder wunderschön blühen. Leider dauert die Pracht meistens nur eine Woche, aber es sieht jedes Jahr immer wieder toll aus. In a particular street in my home town there are some old cherry trees on both sides, which are blossoming beautifully again at this time. Unfortunately this splendid sight usually only lasts for about a week, but each year it really looks great again.

Fantastisch blühender Magnolienbaum, gesehen während eines Spaziergangs durch meine Heimatstadt, die in der Flugschneise von Düsseldorf und Köln liegt. Hier ist der Himmel selten so stahlblau wie auf diesem Bild und normalerweise immer von Kondensstreifen durchzogen. Die Coronakrise kann also auch gute Seiten haben ;-) A fantastic magnolia tree in full bloom, as seen on a walk through my home town which is situated in the air corridor of both airports in Dusseldorf and Cologne. Usually the sky here isn't as steel-blue as in this picture but streaked with contrails. So the corona crisis can have a positive effect as well ;-)
