TV Appeal

TV Appeal
From a book primarily about the '60s and '70s as observed by the pen of editorial cartoonist Hugh Haynie. (I grew up in the city where cartoonist Hugh Haynie plied his trade.)

Even if the main figures change, the truth of many of these cartoons, 50 years old and older, is remarkable.

@ngélique ❤️, Pam J, Ulrich John, have particularly liked this photo

True. I don't know where we're headed. But it worries me.

Thank you, Pam!

Yes. I don't know how we correct the terrible road we're headed down. But hope you have a good weekend.

Thanks, Nicolas.

Needs a slight update with "nasty personality appeal."

Yes indeed.

One of our current top leaders has been called the candidate of grievance. I think that explains him – just some guy who is over everything and loves to go on and on and on. I am sure he thinks his raving and kvetching is entertaining. If he was on the right side, I guess it might be, after the initial embarrassment of seeing a grownup act that way.

Non-stop grievance is a trait (only one of many) of narcissism. "Everybody's stupid but me! Nobody knows the score but me! You're ugly, dumb and you're out to get me! I'm intelligent, but nobody respects me!" I think it was only entertaining when Don Rickles did it.

Anyway, the worst thing is the blatant lying.

If I have to pick one, I am most worried about the environment, and his attitude toward it, which is that some guy who's never studied it knows just as much about it as experts. Disastrous. (I don't have a degree in it either, and that's exactly why I listen to experts. This is not an area for just winging it.) That's narcissistic too.
