Valentine

Valentine
This 24 hour diner, closed the last day of 2011, looks able and ready to resume it's former life at a moment's notice.

The name of this picture derives from the type of diner it is. --a genuine Valentine.

Taken February 19, 2012

The good news is, the diner was purchased by new owners, and has been open for the past few years. Noted May 5, 2019.

Oh, I hope the new owners didn't change it too much. Fabulous, lonely photo.

Love going to a Diner .... got several not too far from me.. then, there are the Mom & Pop type restaurants.
Only do upscale when somebody else is paying :) ....

Yes. I really get a kick out of restaurants that have been around a while, and Mom and Pops, too. There was a great one here that had a small hot table of possibly 5 sides, 1 dessert and 2 meats. All wrapped in a yellow cinder block building about the size of the average living room. It's gone now, but it was neat. No gimmicks, just a simple meal.

Living in FL, one does tend to get 'visitors' of the human sort ... so, to take them to dinner --- we'd just go up Florida Av to a small restaurant [ think it had been started by the Dick Pope family-he of Cypress Gardens fame ] ....
Knowing it was unlike anything where they lived was the fun part.
"Oh, would you like a slice of pie?" There was a cook who had been there for eons -- all she did was make pies.
Her Peach Pie was one out of this world!

Has this anything to do with en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupe_Valentine_Inc.? Or is it because of the color?

It was a documented Valentine. I mentioned new owners... they have painted it. Not sure I would have. But at least its still there.

Thank you, Nicolas.
