It's still summer here in Madrid; an astonishingly warm October to beat all records! Temperatures set to plummet this week though. I hope to get to the hills for my first taste of autumn colour on Wednesday, (a holiday - All Souls Day).
Your dead leaf does look chilly - a foretaste of the extremely cold winters we get here (Madrid is the highest capital city in Europe - a fact that astonishes my Spanish students when I tell them!) and has continental rather maritime climate.
A fine shot in its simplicity, beauty, colour and composition.

I sometimes wish I could be somewhere south especially this time of the year. Weather was just awful last weekend! Zero temperature, and road were a mix of sleet and ice. I didn't know that Madrid is so high above the sea level.

And yes, I guess the winters feel very cold when the houses are not as insulated as they are around here. We sometimes call the apartments here as "bottle houses" because the cost of thick walls and triple glass windows is often very bad air conditioning.
