Hole in one...

Hole in one...
...layer.

Inspired by The Sunday Challenge 'Car'.

Original on notes. On GIMP editor I first used 'Polar Coords' to create an orb, then 'Lens Distortion' to "stretch" the orb to the corners. No need to crop or use any background to fill the "canvas" ;-)

Wow! Fantastic! I tried to use Gimp a few times and was completely lost. As a result, I've never even tried Photoshop.

Thank you Diane =)

I say those both software definitely require much to learn at first! And using them can cause even very very unpleasant surprises, if for example one accidentally removes some tool, and have to spend even hours to find out how to get it back!

But in a long run the option to use multiple layers and do something totally "manually" can be rewarding ;-)

I'm stuck after applying polar coordinates, can you explain where to find lens distortion and strech?

On GIMP it is under: Filters > Distorts > Lens Distortion

Then first try adjusting just: 'Main' slider to the left.

Once you get hang of it, you can also try also something like x/y shift. Experimenting does the master ;-)

And don't hesitate to ask more help =)

Try also this: Main generously to the left, Edge just a little to the left.

Thank you very much, Sami. I use PS CS4. in the filters menu there is only distort / lens correction.... and no stretch option.... ;-( ( I'll download gimp)

And here are more detailed step by step instructions: www.ipernity.com/doc/serola/45394808

Although, that instruction is actually for little different images... Not just for creating stretched orbs.
