Old water tower Lichfield
This abandoned brick tower stands beside the railway line near the main highway through Lichfield, between Putaruru and Tokoroa.
.
The old brick water tower was constructed in 1886 to service the railway. In 1891 it was reported that "There is no better constructed railway in the colony than this line."
The tank has a capacity of 6,000 gallons, and is supplied by hydraulic ram, which pumps 3-4000 gallons per day from a local stream
