Fishermen's cottages, revisited for HFF - Clovelly Harbour 1994

Attractive cottages in this gem of a location Roger. A lovely shot and a good place to take a breather before the long climb back up that beautiful old cobbled street. HFF and have a good weekend

Thanks Carol, I have many memories of that climb from the visits between 1950s to the 2000s. One memorable ascent included a stop in the pub halfway up the hill, Pat decided to try the Scrumpy, you can probably picture the result!

Great shot Roger. You have to pay to enter the village now! My daughter and her family were there Easter weekend. I suppose you can understand a charge when so many people visit and the place needs a lot of upkeep!

Thanks Rosa; I can understand their need to take advantage of the numerous visitors to help with the maintenance of the village.
I had been there many times up to about 2001, the first would have been back in the 1950s, in those days it was simply a case of parking in the top lane and walking straight down the hill. For those without the stamina to get back up there it was possible to a ride on one of the donkeys, or pay for a lift in one of the Land Rovers, if memory serves,using the delivery back lane.

Thanks Gudrun; we had an early start and beat the crowds I think, the village can certainly get very busy at times, my best memories are from visits back in the peaceful 1950s.
