Fieldfare in the Snow

Fieldfare in the Snow
I did have this bird as a Redwing but on checking I now see it is a Fieldfare. With two PiP's. All taken through the window so not as sharp as I would have liked.

Poor thing. I've only seen redwings in big groups with fieldfare, never in out garden. We do get the lon-taled tits, blue tits, great tits, siskins, goldfinch, chaffinch, and, of course, robins, sparrows, blackbirds, and greedy pigeons.

I have had most of them in the garden Amelia. Don't think I've had a siskin though. I do get a pair of very sweet doves. I feel another collage coming...;-)) Still lots of snow here, how about in Shropshire?

Nice shot, Rosa, it's nice to have shrubs that berry, it can be a life line to many birds... The PiP's are nice shots too.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to John Goodwin
Thank you very much John. Strange that so many of the berries are poisonous to us but not the birds. The redwing seems to be the only one that eats those berries though.

Snow is perfect to see the birds! I don't remember ever seeing a redwing, here in SW Germany we mostly have the bigger thrushes.

I saw one song thrush Gudrun but was not quick enough with the camera! Hopefully the snow will be gone tomorrow...still quite cold though brrrr....

Ik heb ze hier nog nooit gezien ,dus goed dat jij ze laat zien.

Thank you Doug. The one good thing about the snow for me has been the variety of birds coming to the garden and keeping them well fed.

Best regards, Rosa.

It was so sad for the poor birds, but they gave me great photo opportunities, in return for the food!
