Yes it is detached John. The long awaited blue sky helped with the colours :)

Another lovely thatched cottage picture Rosa, a treat to see and very nicely composed. Thatched cottages are a bit thin on the ground around here, the only one I can think of is in Thornton Le Dale a few miles away from me.

Thank you Doug. I lived in a village near Devizes in Wiltshire for 6 years and was amazed at the amount of thatched houses in the country.

Rosa! these roofs are so interesting to me! Ive not noticed before how thick they are as they hang over the edge of the building. !! And Rosa, look at the green bush over to the right of the entry to the white home, isn't it trimmed / pruned in a special shape? a rabbit, a duck? something? And in the foreground of this shot, in the left corner , is that a larger plant that is a special shape, a large duck maybe? with its beak over the fence:) just curious :)
Ive enjoyed this photo Rosa. YS

I have to admit that I did not notice the hedges at the time, but now you mention it, the pone on the left does look duck shaped! Also, as you say, the one by the door. I will take special notice the next time I drive through the village Sarah!! Thank you for your great comments and YS....Rosa.

What a lovely thatched cottage, Rosa! Thatched roof houses are among the things I like best in England! I wish I could live there...even for a short time only! :-)
I like the colours and the composition of this charming image.
Have a nice week !
