Burnham-on-Sea
Showing the Low Lighthouse which is still active and is a Grade II listed building. Also in the background is Steep Holm Island in the Bristol Channel.

What a very nice shot.
Another place I don't know. But I should!
I had clients who lived in Burnham for a while and our first meeting was arranged over the phone and they suggested we meet for a working lunch at a pub in Burnham. They gave me the pub name and address and I arranged a day out of the office. I had never been to Burnham before and was looking forward to a day out as I had heard it was a very nice place..
I arrived and asked directions for the pub. Blank expressions. I tried to find a phone box that was working and did so but I didn't get a reply from my clients. I also couldn't find the name of the pub in the phone book (this was before the days GPS or mobile phones). Puzzled and frustrated, I tried my clients landline a few more times and had to give up and therefore had no option but to return to the office in Northwest London.
The only plus point was that I discovered that the town of Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex is very pleasant indeed!

Oh dear that was quite a journey then Andy, ha ha!! I had lunch in the town! I wonder if it was the same pub! Thank you for your amusing story and for your kind comments. I wish the weather had been as nice as it is today, but never mind, there is always another day.
Best wishes, Rosa.

Hello Steve, he could make it a mission to visit every Burnham in the country and knowing Andy he could write a very good book about it ;-)) Thank you for your kind YS.

Hello Steve and Rosa. I now know all three Burnhams (at least the ones mentioned, I'm sure there are others!) and all have their pleasant aspects.
I don't think a book would be welcome by anyone, least of all Amelia!!! :o))))
Hoping all goes well with the crowdfunding!

A familiar view from my youth! As many people did, my then fiancée and I had our photo taken there. My parents lived down the road in Highbridge.

Thanks for the link Phil. In 1970 I still lived in Dorset and didn't go to Burnham for another decade! I now take my granddaughter there most summers for a day.
