Aha! Sideways! =D

I once had a personal project to seek things that look cool this way.

You noticed! I like to turn people's heads sometimes - ha! One early favorite photos of mine I used upside down - no one noticed.

I wish I had the follow through to have projects. I have a few in mind, but I keep getting distracted by other cool things.

It was some years ago when I had more time. I chose some idea/subject/technique for a week, and just did it. Seven image, one per day.

An example:

Although, one of them is actually upside down =D

now you have me trying to figure out which one is upside down! but these are a great group of photos, your sideways ones.

I'm interested in the concept of groupings of photos, for books, for shows. It is frustrating to me to try and group my photos - I think of them as individual works of art (the best of them anyway) and it seems to degrade them to put them next to another artwork of my making. Yet sometimes they can be given another dimension by having something that goes before of after. And I enjoy other's groupings sometimes. So I'm going to read a book about grouping images that is in a book about chinese poetry that my husband has. To me it is a fascinating subject.

In that case you may find the personal weekly challenges as useful. Once you focuse on some topic, the grouping may come naturally.

What I learned from this sideways thing is that how the direction of light and shadows changes the nature of images. Usually in mid day light comes from up. When images become turned sideways, the images get almost supernatural feeling.

A great perspective, nature has made a start at taking over, a belated HFF Laura I hope that your weekend is a nice one

Thanks. I almost put this in my group 'plants vs structures', but the plants aren't really the focus of the image, so I didn't do that. But yes, they love to find the cracks here. It's lovely to live in a place where nature wins so often. I lived in Arizona for awhile and it was not the same thing!

Have a good weekend!

It took me a moment or two to get my head round this! Very cleverly composed and taken Laura. It's good to get a different perspective on familiar things sometimes.

That's the goal, different perspectives! Hopefully you don't have to figure it out to enjoy it. I almost made it completely abstract, but I do like to keep a bit of reality.
