Drusillas - Rainbow Lorikeets - 14.4.2014

14 Apr 2014 184
Photo by Sam aged 6 - that's Grandad's hand, which is why he wasn't taking the photo. As it's the best photo of the day, I think I had better give him the camera full-time! Sam's big sister wanted to feed the Lorikeets with a little pot of 'nectar', but as soon as she saw the birds descending she wouldn't take the pot. Normally I run a mile from contact with birds, but these were so tame I quite enjoyed my encounter.

The road runs along the other side of the trees, into the old village of Bishopstone. Some of the more modern developments can be seen towards the left of the view, nearer the sea, which itself can just be seen on the horizon at the extreme left.
