The King & Queen pub Brighton 19 11 2022

The King & Queen pub Brighton 19 11 2022
Built in 1779 as a Farmhouse and named in honour of George III and Charlotte whose 60 year reign ended in 1820. The figures that currently decorate the frontage seem to be of Henry VIII and one of his many wives. They were around over two hundred years earlier, but he is probably regarded as a better known king. Maybe the half-timbered style looks more Tudor than Georgian, so makes Henry a better image to complete the 'look'.

Ecobird, Marco F. Delminho, HaarFager, Annemarie and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

The farmer that had it built, as his farmhouse, must have been a wealthy man.
