Es buena. Supongo que los barcos “Pilots” supongo son los que aquí llamamos “Prácticos” que son los barcos que llevan al piloto que gobernará la nave que entra o sale del puerto y lo solicita.

That is correct. There are only a few cargo ships that visit Newhaven at present. They come to collect scrap metal and take it to Germany and Portugal. The pilots are not very busy. They only have to go out once or twice a week. The ferry which takes passengers, cars and lorries to and from Dieppe, does not need the pilots, as the ship's officers have been trained to enter and leave the port safely.

An interesting scene from the past Phil, is it a much changed view these days?

It ain't that long ago, Roger. It only looks a bit older because I was trying to be a bit arty with some of my industrial scenes.
The only significant change I can see is that the railway signal box, in the background, is no longer operational, although it was still there a few weeks back.
Look back at pre- 1960 photos and you will see Newhaven as a very busy port with boat trains from London serving several ferries a day, as well as a lot of cargo traffic. If you look at old maps the railway yards there were quite extensive and on both sides of the harbour.
