A super-saturated Seaford sailing scene - 6.6.2018

A super-saturated Seaford sailing scene - 6.6.2018
This is a long-distance shot of sailing boats from the Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club, with the Newhaven light-house in the back-ground. The 'paint' effect was created by the simple process of pushing the Photoshop 'saturate' slider right to the end.

Erika Akire, Petar Bojić, Gisela Plewe have particularly liked this photo

I thought for a moment you'd bought a painting by Dali.

I often play about with the sliders in Photoshop. When you reach the extremes there are quite often completely different effects. On this one, although I liked the coloured sails, the composition was a bit unbalanced, so I didn't want to bother with keeping it. When I came across this effect I thought it was, as you say, a bit like an impressionist painting.

I like it. The effects make it work really well.

Thanks, Paul. Despite the huge array of beautiful photos here on this site, there is often a sameness - another glamorous landscape - another pristine flower portrait - more interesting architecture. It is hard to find different subjects, so a bit of tinkering in Photoshop can produce a bit of originality. This one was really a complete accident - just pushing the saturation to the max. I didn't expect to get the crystalized look.
